2.1 Health Effects - Acute

Swallowed

Although used in both surface coatings and adhesives in contact with foodstuffs, and is used as a postage stamp adhesive and a pharmaceutical binder, it is not a natural food and its metabolism is unknown. Avoid ingestion.

Eye

Dust is mildly irritating to the eyes.

Skin

Not considered to be a primary skin irritant, having been employed on poultice.

Inhaled

Dust causes discomfort if inhaled. Exposure to all nuisance dusts should be avoided to the extent feasible.

2.2 Health Effects - Chronic

Within the lungs, or injected into the body, will behave as a foreign body.

2.3 First Aid

Swallowed

If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Seek medical aid.

Eye

Immediately irrigate with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Eyelids to be held open.

Skin

Seek medical aid if irritation develops or persists. Flush skin with plenty of soap and water.

Inhaled

Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately. Seek medical aid if cough or other symptoms appear.

First Aid Facilities
